Registration Opens for 7th Rubber Modified Asphalt Conference
WASHINGTON, D.C., August 19, 2016 — If you’re motivated by rubber and roads then don’t miss the 7th Rubber Modified Asphalt Conference, November 2-3, 2016 at the Sheraton Ann Arbor Hotel in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Registration is now open.
Industry experts and state highway officials experienced in rubber modified asphalt use will discuss their experiences and challenges in expanding the use of this cost-effective and environmentally sound product.
The event is hosted by the U.S. Tire Manufacturers Association (USTMA), the Scrap Tire Research and Education Foundation (STREF), Rubber Pavement Association and the Rubber Division of the American Chemical Society.
Conference co-hosts are: the Asphalt Institute, the National Asphalt Pavement Association (NAPA), Rubberized Asphalt Foundation (RAF), and the National Center for Asphalt Technology (NCAT). The conference is in cooperation with the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and the state host is the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality.
“We are very excited about the enthusiasm we have received from our speakers, sponsors and attendees for this conference,” said John Sheerin. USTMA director, end of life tire programs. “The conference is an ideal educational forum for state department of transportation officials and state scrap tire regulators to help improve their understanding of rubber modified asphalt and increase its use,” Sheerin added.
The conference agenda also includes sessions on cost considerations for rubber modified asphalt; state case studies; contractors’ experience with the product; air and water environment issues and much more.
“Rubber modified asphalt is a highly effective road surface that reduces road noise and road spray and delivers the added environmental benefit of recycling waste tires into a highly productive, value-added end use,” Sheerin said.
Additionally the Scrap Tire Work Group will meet on Tuesday, November 1 to discuss the overall progress of the U.S. state scrap tire markets and programs. The state-run Scrap Tire Work Group includes representatives from government, trade organizations, scrap tire publications, consultants, academia, and scrap tire recyclers.
