David joined Michelin in 2019 and is responsible for Public Affairs in the United States and Canada. He leads an international team responsible for defending and shaping public policy to support the company at the federal, state, and local levels, developing and executing the North American sustainability strategy and engagement in key community relations. He also ran Michelin’s Government and Defense sales business for 3.5 years. Prior to Michelin, David served in the US Army for 30 years retiring at the rank of Colonel. He held leadership roles at every level of his career, serving in the 7th Infantry Division, 82d Airborne Division, 75th Ranger Regiment and deployed to both Afghanistan and Iraq. He also Commanded the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center in Monterey, CA where he was responsible for the education and training of 4,500 resident military linguists and another 65,000 language learners on-line. Other notable assignments include service as the Defense and Army Attaché to Paris France, Athens Greece, and Belgrade Serbia where he oversaw security assistance, military equipment sales, policy and bilateral relations between the United States and its allies. David holds a master’s degree in International Relations from Troy University, a master’s degree in National Security Strategy from the National Defense University, a bachelor’s degree in English from The Citadel, and certificates in business from Harvard Business School and the University of Kansas. He is a three-time graduate of the Defense Language Institute with proficiencies in Russian, Serbian/Croatian, Greek and French languages. David resides in Washington, D.C., with his wife, one daughter and German Shepherd dog.
