June 21, 2019
The U.S. Tire Manufacturers Association (USTMA) today announced the appointment of Alexis Garcin, chairman and president of Michelin North America Inc., to its board of directors effective immediately. Garcin succeeds Scott Clark, who was named Michelin’s group executive vice president responsible for the company’s global passenger car and light truck business, motorsports and experiences. In his new role at Michelin, Garcin will coordinate all activities of Michelin North America, which encompasses more than $9 billion in sales and 20,000 employees across Canada and the United States.
“Alexis is a forward-looking leader with a distinguished career in global sales and marketing. His international perspective, extensive experience and deep understanding of our industry will be an asset to our organization’s governance and business strategies,” said Anne Forristall Luke, USTMA president and CEO. “We look forward to working with Alexis and welcome him to USTMA’s Board of Directors.”
Garcin joined Michelin in 2002 and has held numerous positions in Europe. He began his Michelin career as sales director of the car dealer channel in France. He then worked in the passenger car division, where he held sales director positions for the European and German markets, prior to being named managing director of EUROMASTER, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Michelin Group, in Germany. From 2011 to 2017, Garcin served as Michelin’s global strategic marketing director for the truck and bus division and most recently led the global, long-distance transportation business line. Before joining Michelin, Garcin held several positions for BOSCH Group, including sales director for Western Europe.
Garcin holds a degree in Economical Sciences from University Lumière in Lyon, France, and a master’s degree in Business and Management from Saint- Etienne Business School in France.
