Mid-Year Tire Shipment Forecast Shows Slight Growth for 2016

Total U.S. tire shipments are projected to grow slightly in 2016 according to a mid-year forecast by the U.S. Tires Manufacturers Association (USTMA), the national trade association for tire manufacturers in the U.S.
- Original equipment truck tire shipments are expected to decrease while replacement truck tire shipments are projected to increase. Overall, however, total truck tire shipments (original equipment plus replacement) are expected to decrease.
- Passenger vehicle original equipment tires are expected to see only a very slight increase while replacement passenger tires are projected to decrease.
- The light truck tire segment is expecting solid growth in both original equipment and replacement tire shipments.
