USTMA Statement on Participation in WA House Environment and Energy Committee Hearing

October 13, 2021

U.S. Tire Manufacturers Association (USTMA) member companies are committed to producing the safest, most durable and most efficient tires possible. As global leaders in manufacturing, our members embrace a shared responsibility of helping to achieve a more sustainable society.

USTMA members are also committed to industry leadership through active and ongoing engagement and collaboration with our many stakeholders to ensure the safety, performance and environmental sustainability of our tires.

It’s these shared commitments that drive our collaboration with researchers and regulators to better understand 6PPD and 6PPD-quinone, fill knowledge gaps in existing research and support the California Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) alternatives analysis process.

We welcome the opportunity presented by the Washington State House Environment and Energy Committee to continue ongoing collaborations with the important organizations that participated in today’s meeting to fully understand and responsibly respond to the issues raised that require a multi-stakeholder approach to find sustainable, long-term solutions.
