USTMA Statement on the Retirement of Bridgestone Americas, Inc. CEO and President Gary Garfield

July 27, 2016

Anne Forristall Luke, president and CEO of the U.S. Tire Manufacturers Association (USTMA) issued the following statement upon the announced retirement of Gary Garfield, CEO and President, Bridgestone Americas, Inc.

“Gary Garfield’s passion for the business and people of the U.S. tire manufacturing industry — and the customers and communities we serve — has been a tremendous asset to Bridgestone and to USTMA.

“Gary’s commitment to transformational progress has been the hallmark of his leadership as the chair of the USTMA Board of Directors. Since his election as chair, Gary has devoted many hours helping USTMA become a more active, engaged organization focused on delivering ever-increasing value to its members. He has been a generous and wise partner to me since I joined USTMA in January, and his vision will have a lasting impact.

“USTMA staff and the USTMA Board of Directors will miss Gary's presence, participation and leadership. We all wish him the very best as he departs Bridgestone and our industry, both of which are better today because of him.”
