USTMA’s Sarah Amick to Speak at 2019 International Tire Exhibition & Conference
September 10, 2019
The U.S. Tire Manufacturers Association’s (USTMA) Vice President of Environment, Health, Safety and Sustainability and Senior Counsel, Sarah Amick will be a panelist at the 2019 International Tire Exhibition & Conference (ITEC), North America’s largest tire manufacturing conference and takes place Sept. 25-26, 2019, in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio.
This year’s conference, ITEC In Focus: Green Tire, will focus on the issue of sustainability in the tire industry and include topics such as tire recycling and bio-materials as alternatives to rubber.
Ms. Amick’s presentation will provide an overview of federal and state chemical regulatory issues impacting the tire manufacturing industry including implementation of changes to the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA), the primary, federal chemical management regulation in the U.S.
“USTMA supports implementation of the Frank R. Lautenberg Chemical Safety for the 21st Century Act (TSCA reform) and a robust federal approach for chemical management that provides transparency and engages stakeholders early in the process,” said Amick. “I look forward to speaking at the ITEC conference and the opportunity to identify new partners and stakeholders we can engage with on chemical regulatory issues.”
About TSCA
On June 22, 2016, Congress passed the Frank R. Lautenberg Chemicals for the 21st Century Act to reform the 1976 version of TSCA, the nation’s principal law governing the manufacture and use of chemicals. This reform provides EPA expanded authority to assess the safety of chemical substances in products such as tires, and to create regulations to reduce risk to human health and the environment.
